НОС длиннее слоновьего хобота.
Этот НОС вместе с Данкой
Всюду НОСит служанка.
Вот такие несНОСные хлопоты!


There was a Young Lady of Turkey,
Who wept when the weather was murky;
When the day turned out fine,
She ceased to repine,
That capricious Young Lady of Turkey.

В день дождливый ханум из Ирана
Слёз потоки лила постоянно;
А в погожий денёк
Прекращался поток.
Ох, капризна ханум из Ирана!


There was an Old Man of Apulia,
Whose conduct was very peculiar
He fed twenty sons,
Upon nothing but buns,
That whimsical Man of Apulia.

Некий житель приволжских степей
Восемнадцать держал сыновей
На диете особой:
Пирожками и сдобой
Их кормил странный житель степей.


There was an Old Man with a poker,
Who painted his face with red oker
When they said, 'You're a Guy!'
He made no reply,
But knocked them all down with his poker.

Как-то раз человек с кочергой,
Шёл по городу, грязный такой;
Тем, кто лез с замечаньем,
Отвечал он молчаньем
И лупил их своей кочергой.


There was an Old Person of Prague,
Who was suddenly seized with the Plague;
But they gave his some butter,
Which caused him to mutter,
And cured that Old Person of Prague.

Чуть не умер бедняга из Гори
От какой-то загадочной хвори;
Но джигита спасло
То, что масла кило
Прописал ему доктор из Гори.


There was an Old Man of the North,
Who fell into a basin of broth;
But a laudable cook,
Fished him out with a hook,
Which saved that Old Man of the North.

Глупый парень из штата Бенгал
В бак с ухою однажды упал;
Но крючком повариха
Его вынула лихо -
Спасся парень из штата Бенгал!


There was a Young Lady of Poole,
Whose soup was excessively cool;
So she put it to boil
By the aid of some oil,
That ingenious Young Lady of Poole.

У красавицы с южных Курил
Суп в кастрюле однажды остыл;
Так она догадалась
Подогреть его малость -
Да, смекалиста дама с Курил!


There was an Old Person of Mold,
Who shrank from sensations of cold,
So he purchased some muffs,
Some furs and some fluffs,
And wrapped himself from the cold.

Жил да был агроном из колхоза,
Он загнулся почти от мороза;
Но купил он тулуп
И одиннадцать  шуб -
И упрятался в них от мороза.


There was an Old Man of Nepaul,
From his horse had a terrible fall;
But, though split quite in two,
By some very strong glue,
They mended that Man of Nepaul.

Некий старец в державе Непал
Неудачно с кобылы упал...
Но непальские власти
Старцу склеили части;
Супер-клей производит Непал!


There was an Old Man of th' Abruzzi,
So blind that he couldn't his foot see;
When they said, 'That's your toe,'
He replied, 'Is it so?'
That doubtful Old Man of th' Abruzzi.

Близорукий Фома из Литвы
Даже ногу не видит, увы!
Скажут: "Вот ваш башмак" -
Он не верит никак.
Недоверчив Фома из Литвы!
